New year, same me, but now with a blog!
I tend not to make new year’s resolutions – my general goals in life tend to differ very little from year to year. Write more, read more, have less toxicity, finish a damn sewing project (don’t just leave it forever needing hemmed…), and just, in general, live.
But also now I have blog. So my new goal that also happens to coincide with the start of 2018 is to maintain a blog. And this is the first post. So I might as well write about my goals, right?
Here’s what’s going on in my life:
52 Books, 52 Weeks
What it says on the tin. Read 52 novel-length books in the 52 weeks of 2018. I’m starting with White Sand, which is a comic written by Brandon Sanderson, and Warbreaker, also by Brandon Sanderson.
National Novel Writing Month, you’ll hear more about this in November and December.
Play in the US Quidditch National Championships
It’s official name is “US Quidditch Cup” but you won’t hear me call it that. My team, the Silicon Valley Skrewts, is on what we call the “bubble” this year. Basically, it means that we may or may not qualify. We’ve qualified every year there’s been a system to qualify, and attended every year since 2010, so it’ll be sad if we don’t.
Either: Perform in a musical (again!) or play for the Major League Quidditch team in my area
Last summer, I played Gingy and the Sugar Plum Fairy in Shoestring Family Theater‘s production of Shrek. This year, the musical is Honk!, but MLQ conflicts with it. I haven’t decided which I’ll do yet, but it’s gonna be fun either way!
Finish a damn sewing project
Again, what it says on the tin. I have several sewing projects that literally just need hemmed. And a cute Legend of Zelda skirt I’m making that needs a zipper, a hem, and a waistband sewn on. And a mistcloak that’s about 90% done.
